Jesus. That triggers flashbacks. About 15 years ago we had the Gypsy Kings and entourage come in as walk-ins. Split them across five tables, one was a six top, others were eights. After some staggered apps they cleaned us out in lobster entrees, essentially shut down a five man line just to plate their entrees.
We gave it our best but it was still not up to our service standard, either for banquets or a la carte dining. It impacted other diners. I was told we had to do it because of who they were and the publicity exposure but I don’t think we ever got any kind of publicity from it. They went hard on high dollar entrees, desserts and wines though, so there was that.
